EXCOR ® VAD system is intended as left and/or right ventricular assistance device, bridge to transplant, in patients with heart diseases as dilatative, ischemic, restrictive, post partum, toxic cardiomyopathies and in general severe left and/or right ventricle failures refractory to optimal medical treatment, such that a heart transplantation should be considered as unique solution.
Mechanical ventricles, placed extracorporeal and connected to the heart with silicone cannulas, replace completely heart functions or part of it.
